Is there a reason all your ZX81 videos are stretched to widescreen? They just look so wrong…

Think it reads Character Display. So this game used user defined characters. You can tell also tell by the way the player moves one entire character width at a time. I take it this is a 1K game? It would have to be to use used defined characters.

Why a jellybean is not that good is the fact that the displaymethod is bound by the characterset of the ZX81. The "quaracter"-display allows to use a quarter of a character and then switch to a next character, hence the name for the method. It is a brand new of characterdisplay on the ZX81.

I love Itch - I've never dabbled in ZX stuff, but there are a lot of really great indie games on there. I've found some cool NES and DOS stuff, even.
